The North American market for everything telemedia from PRS calling in Canada to the latest in mobile web access and monetisation is booming and WORLD TELEMEDIA MALTA is the place to find out all about the opportunities and potential for your service offerings in the region. Bango (www.bango.com) and Advance Telecom Services (ATS) (www.advancedtele.com) will both be presenting at WORLD TELEMEDIA’s international markets workshop on both Monday 27 and Tueday 28 April at the show, offering the latest insight into what the market has to offer ‘out west’. Bango research already shows that the US has knocked the UK off the top slot for mobile web browsing with 29% of the worldwide traffic. And the good news for content providers is that the growth in traffic is being matched by the growth in users paying for content on the mobile web. “With 245 million subscribers, it was only a matter of time before the US became the number 1 country in the world for mobile web browsing,” says Anil Malhotra, SVP of Marketing at Bango, who will be presenting these findings and more at WORLD TELEMEDIA MALTA. “When it comes to payments though, the US is accelerating faster than any other country and now accounts for 57% of payments worldwide.” ATS, meanwhile, finds that 900 services in the region are also booming and the company’s president, Bob Bentz, will be on hand to offer his views on how to exploit this massive market. ATS offers premium rate services (900 numbers) and interactive text message SMS services in the United States and Canada. If you have successful premium rate programs in other parts of the world, ATS offers easy expansion of those services to the North American market. It can be as easy as simply allowing for a 900 number in the USA or Canada to redirect to your IVR platform. Canada has been a bright spot for ATS over the past year. The Canadian 900 number market is now de-regulated, thus offering competition for the first time ever in the premium rate industry. The result has been less content restrictions, better collections, and decreased chargebacks. Bob Bentz, president of Advanced Telecom Services and a 20-year veteran in the telemedia industry, will be a featured speaker at the show. “I look forward to learning more about the telemedia industry in countries where we are not active and in meeting any companies who are interested in expanding their services to the United States and Canada,” said Bentz.
