When Evil CallsMobile content innovators - we saluted you
The inaugural Telemedia Magazine's Eureka for Mobile Awards has been won by Zonemedia for its innovative two minute mobile horror films 'When Evil Calls'.

Beating off stiff competition from around Europe, London based Zonemedia wowed the audience - which voted for this unique award - with its blood thirsty offering Zone Horror.

Zonemedia's Lucy Halliday shared the stage with two other finalists Joroen Elfferich from Pop Kids - an avatar based Pop Idol style game for teenagers - and Million-2-1's Simon Murphy, for its innovative reverse auction services that are sweeping TV and mobile across Europe.

Zonemedia's twenty part series (20 x 2 minute episodes) is written and directed by rising horror star Johannes Roberts (Forest of the Damned (2005), Darkhunters (2004)) and will be shot specifically for mobile devices, and actively promoted on television in multiple territories worldwide.

Starring Jennifer Lim (Hostel, Code 46), Dominique Pinon (Amelie, Alien Resurrected, Delicatessen), Oscar Pearce (Puffball, Resident Evil), Chris Barry (Red Dwarf, Lara Croft Tomb Raider movies), Rick Warden (Band of Brothers, Rome), Shaun Brosnan (son of Pearce Brosnan), Lois Winstone (Last orders, daughter of Ray Winstone), Vicky Blows, Maxim/FHM model), Victoria Aitken (socialite, daughter of Jonathan), Shaun Hutson (author of Slugs) with cameos from a variety of stars.

Set in a remote boarding school, "When Evil Calls" concentrates on the macabre events that unfold following the mysterious appearance of a video message on one student's mobile phone. Following twists and sinister turns one must be careful what one wishes for, because it might just come true.  Think of Final Destination crossed with The Twilight Zone - the way the audience is teased with how the character will die before shocking them with something completely unexpected.  A very tongue in cheek take on the horror genre with stunning special effects, filmed in HD.

This really has turned production models on their heads with a spin off full length feature film and TV series in production as a result of the success of the mobile series. Founded in London in 1991 by Chris Wronski, Zonemedia was originally formed to distribute television programmes to the Central and Eastern European market.
